Faithful

The great lake seem to inspire themes of Gods’s unending Love and faithfulness. One day coming out of the full immersion of that lake, I felt inspired with these words and melody.

Who played what etc: This was recorded at a Rumours of Worship session on the 18 December 2010. Simon sang and played his strat, Cheryl sang and played keys, Bethany played bass, Tanya played keys and Ian played guitar. You can work out who plays what on guitar, by whether Simon is singing or not. If he is singing, then he plays simpler sort of rhythm with a bit of lead, but later Ian takes over the rhythm and then Simon lets rip. In the quiet you will hear Andrew’s haunting trombone….

  1. the song faithful. i identify with the mourning, despair theme, by way of a teaching i recently heard in the mennonite circles we are in. (Lament was the word used, see below) the session was about being a prophetic voice to the church (a charismatic type like me thinks other things than these mennonites do…)
Hippolyto (from DRC, now canadian) spoke from Amos…saying amos was told to go north and preach, he went by faith, he didn’t go to earn a salary.
    a prophet:
    – has faith
    – has indignation for other people’s suffering
    – mourns (the sermon on the mount)
    – a prophet doesn’t speak brutally, he laments, he brings it to the public
    – the domineering are no longer comfortable, they can’t hide anymore, so the poor become energized (they had kept the suffering to themselves, but now it is in the open)
    – a prophet is not attacking you, or insulting you, he is lamenting (e.g. nathan the prophet before king david)
    – the church is a mother, and a prostitute – so as children of the church, shall we not mourn for our mother? and work to get her out of the situation that lead her to our birth. and shall we not cry for what it was that caused her to lie down and make that baby in the first place?
    – genesis chapters: 12 and 18 – perhaps he made some comments from them?

i thought this might be something for you from the Lord…

    peace
