This short prose was written for someone from the He Puaawai community, as she went on to further study. Over the years she and I have shared creative writing pieces. It became clear that we might encourage one another in the expression of our hearts onto paper. One day, I hope you will get to read some of her amazing heart-expressions; she has insight into life and a way of conveying it that this crazy world needs.
This piece is probably life-advice, I suppose. It's about what we really need to keep in the central focus (the fovea - yes, I know, it's not time to talk about Science 😊 😆). Seriously, though, it's easy to be sidetracked. It comes naturally to many of us to focus on the less-important but the persistently urgent.
Thanks, Jaymee, for reminding me that I need to write. We all need people to remind us to bring all of ourselves to those around.
