The was written one evening when contemplating the crazy way we choose to live: independent, self-made, in-control and all alone. Sometimes we are so prickly that no-one can get near our cactus-like exterior.
Why not live more like a chick under its mother’s wing of a duckling following a caring mother duck, or even a little lamb who once followed Mary (even if she did go to school, where the lamb got into trouble by making the children laugh and play).
My point is, “alone is not good”. To travel the long road of life we need to travel slowly and carefully. An old proverb tells us:
“If you want to go fast, go alone
If you want to go far, go together.”
The road of life is more than an ultra-marathon, so be nice,
Travel well with those around you.
Be kind.
Think of the needs of others more than yourself.
Walk with those you love.
Hold hands
Slower, with more caring companions, makes for a better journey.
