What this website is about
This is the new home of Rumours of Worship. This site is slowly being populated from our previous website that was mostly in the form of Posts. We hope to this version easier to use. Perhaps we may even be able to add a "Play all" button so you can listen to song after song... watch this space. There are several songs that are in process, so are missing some writeup or even the audio. Generally they are fully written, some are even recorded but not yet mixed, and still others have yet to be recorded. Welcome to the life of being a Creative ... On top of that we may even hold down a job.
From Aoteoroa New Zealand known as the land of the long white cloud; where the sun first rises on the earth Tena koe, Tena koe e te hoa, greetings, greetings to a friend, to one another…. This home grown site is for the purpose of sharing the heart of worship expressed as it is formed among us. The aim is to share our (often spontaneous and unrehearsed) worship and prayer for the nations in its organic form.
Rumours of worship came as the result of wanting to gather and worship in response to the Father’s love for us.
These original recordings are the offerings where ‘everyone gets to play’.
There are also many other expressions such as poetic writing, songs of encouragement and instrumental music.
The album concept
I woke up one morning with a string of album names in my head related to the idea of Embers (our original band name) and the idea of being rekindled. All the names reflect a sense of us being embers and needing to be constantly rekindled by the Holy Spirit. I got Andrew (our son) to give me a hand and we went through all the songs we had written either by ourselves, or collectively, and started putting them into albums. This meant that all our songs were allocated to a specific album according to the sense that each song carried and how they may reflect the title of a particular album. I know this is a bit of a strange way to do things, but then again, why not do something a little different. Therefore, each album spans several years worth of work from different times and places throughout out lives. These songs are what the Father placed in our hands and are the legacy of our journey as followers of Jesus. (Tanya)

We are happy to give our music away for you to listen to or play it yourself (hence the chord charts). If you want to record any of it or perform it publicly, we expect you to clear that with us first.
Sadly there is an inconsistency. Older writeup have the date as Month/Day/Year (US standard). Newer write ups may well be Day/Month/Year (NZ standard), or just a month and year.
