About Tanya

I am a small town girl living in a small town world (although I did live in the big city – Jo’burg, for 20 years). There are definitely times I miss it but I love that it takes me 5 mins to get to work in the morning in “rush hour”. Knowing the Father means that living life is the most exciting journey one could be on. I have to say, that we have been blessed on this journey, with the most extraordinary friends, who now live in South Africa, England, Northern Ireland, Australia, Uganda, Botswana, the States, Canada, Costa Rica (our other son Daniel) and now in New Zealand (etc).

My heart belongs to Jesus, who I want to know more and more and my precious family, Ian, Betha and Andrew. Our immediate family connections – parents and siblings – are solid and strong and they continue to love and support us even though we are at ‘the ends of the earth’ and don’t get to see each other much.

I have had the privilege of being involved in some amazing things eg working in Hillbrow with kids, Orange Farm squatter camp, the Valley Vineyard worship team (yes all of you over all those years), worship conferences in Zimbabwe and SA, reconciliation trips to Kosovo and Northern Ireland and a songwriters retreat in LA. But for all of that, I have to say that the relationships that we have built over the years have been the most special thing for me.

Rumours of worship for me, is about family (whanau) in all its many forms and to encourage all of you who we know and even those we don’t, that we are called to a ‘long obedience in the same direction’, even if there are some valleys and mountains in the way. Be strong and courageous! “Wait for the Lord, be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord” Ps 27:14.
